Origins, love, and fatherhood. After a difficult childhood in a run-down town, Kevin is thrust into adult life, where he confronts both himself and society. Just when he thinks he no longer has to look back, the past catches up with him: how do you treat your loved ones with gentleness when you come from a harsh background yourself?
In this cabaret and book performance, Kevin takes you from Ninove to Ghent, from Army of Hardcore in an old Audi to learning how to ferment in a community orchard. His poems make poetry no longer dull and abstract, but captivating and entertaining. This is a must-see for anyone who loves language and humor.
The poetry of Kevin Amse (Ninove, 1989) has received awards both on and off the stage. This performance coincides with his debut collection, 'A House Surrounded' (Poëziecentrum, 2026). In 'A House Surrounded', vulnerability and humor also go hand in hand. At one moment, pencils are wetted in the voting booth; at another, the light fades behind a clenched fist. This is flowing poetry in a barren landscape.
