Biography - Gregory Porter

Gregory Porter is een Amerikaanse jazz- en soulzanger die bekendstaat om zijn warme, diepe stem en herkenbare stijl, inclusief zijn iconische pet. Hij werd geboren op 4 november 1971 in Sacramento en brak internationaal door met zijn album Liquid Spirit (2013), waarmee hij ook een Grammy won. Porter mixt moeiteloos jazz, soul en gospel, met invloeden van legendes als Nat King Cole. Naast Liquid Spirit scoorde hij ook succes met albums als Take Me to the Alley en All Rise. Zijn muziek draait vaak om thema’s als liefde, identiteit en het leven zelf, en hij heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een vaste waarde binnen de moderne jazzscene.
