Soraya Gerrits ontwikkelde haar passie voor het vak toen nog maar 11 jaar was. Na het zien van de musical Mary Poppins was zij opslag verliefd. Ze behaalde in 2017 haar Havo diploma op de Havo/Vwo voor Muziek en Dans in Rotterdam. Het jaar daarvoor volgde zij de vooropleiding Muziektheater op Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg en studeerde ze in 2021 af aan de HBO Bachelor Muziektheater op Fontys Hogeschool voor Kunsten in Tilburg. In 2016 was zij te zien in het programma New Musical Star, een zoektocht naar nieuw, jong musical talent.
Soraya maake haar debuut in de musical Diana & Zonen waarin ze de rol speelde van jonge Diana. Ook is Gerrits te zien als Alyssa in het ultieme musicalfeest voor jong en oud: The Prom.
