Benjamin Clementine is a British singer-songwriter, composer and performer known for his powerful voice, poetic lyrics and distinctive musical style. Blending soul, classical influences, chanson and alternative pop, he creates an intense and deeply personal sound that has captivated audiences and critics worldwide.
Born and raised in London, Clementine later moved to Paris, where he experienced a period of homelessness and began performing as a street musician. After returning to London, he achieved international breakthrough with his debut album At Least for Now (2015), which won the prestigious Mercury Prize.
His music is characterised by minimalist piano arrangements, emotional depth and a strong theatrical presence. With later albums such as I Tell a Fly and And I Have Been, Clementine continued to push artistic boundaries. In 2019, he was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in recognition of his contribution to the arts.
