Hailing from County Cork, Ireland, Darren Kiely blends the rich tradition of Irish folk music with modern influences from artists such as The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons and Noah Kahan. His musical journey began at a young age with the tin whistle and fiddle before teaching himself to play guitar and discovering his voice as a powerful instrument in 2019.
With his raw vocals, heartfelt storytelling and deeply rooted Irish influences, Kiely quickly built a growing audience. After earning several accolades in traditional Irish music, he moved to New York in 2022 to further develop his own sound, followed by a period in Nashville, the heart of American singer-songwriter culture.
Since signing with Free Flight Records, Darren Kiely has continued to build an impressive catalogue where personal stories, folk melodies and contemporary production come together. His debut EP, Lost, explores themes of self-doubt, identity and personal growth, featuring standout tracks such as “Mom & Dad” and “Sunrise”, which reached the number one spot on the Irish charts. On its follow-up, From The Dark, Kiely further refines his signature style while exploring the challenges of growing up and moving forward.
With his authentic sound and captivating live performances, Darren Kiely is widely regarded as one of the most promising new voices in the modern folk scene.
