Epica is een Nederlandse symfonische metalband, opgericht in 2002 door gitarist en componist Mark Jansen na zijn vertrek uit After Forever. De band combineert zware metal met orkestrale en gothic invloeden, filmische elementen en filosofische teksten. De kenmerkende zang van Simone Simons, afgewisseld met grunts van Jansen, vormt samen met koor- en orkestpartijen het herkenbare Epica-geluid.
Na het debuutalbum The Phantom Agony (2003) groeide Epica internationaal uit tot een van de toonaangevende bands binnen het genre. Met albums als The Divine Conspiracy, Design Your Universe, The Quantum Enigma en Omega verstevigden ze hun reputatie door ambitieuze concepten en groots opgezette liveshows, vaak met orkest en koor.
Epica staat bekend om hun wereldwijde tours en grote jubileumconcerten. In 2025 verschijnt het album Aspiral.
