The German band FAUN is known as a pioneer in pagan and medieval folk, blending traditional instruments like bagpipes, lute, harp, and flutes with modern rhythms and hypnotic vocals.

FAUN's live performances transport you to a world of legends and myths, with songs in German, Latin, English, and even Ancient Germanic.

Biography - FAUN

Faun is een Duitse pagan folk-band uit Gräfelfing, vlak bij München, die sinds de oprichting in 1999 uitgroeide tot een toonaangevende naam binnen de middeleeuwse en Keltisch geïnspireerde folkwereld. De groep bestaat uit Oliver s. Tyr, Adaya Lancha Bairacli, Stephan Groth, Laura Fella, Alex Schulz en Niel Mitra.

Met hun unieke mix van historische instrumenten en moderne klanken creëert Faun een mystieke sfeer waarin verleden en heden moeiteloos samenkomen. De muziek is stevig geworteld in Keltische folk en middeleeuwse tradities, maar krijgt door elektronische invloeden en ritmische beats een eigentijds karakter dat aanspreekt bij een breed publiek.

De band bespeelt een indrukwekkend arsenaal aan instrumenten: van de Keltische harp, nyckelharpa en draailier tot luiten, fluiten, doedelzakken, citer en grote percussie-instrumenten zoals Japanse taiko-trommels. Qua zang schakelt Faun tussen intieme, ambient-achtige melodieën en meer rituele, chant-achtige composities. De harmonieuze samenzang van de twee zangeressen met frontman Oliver s. Tyr draagt bij aan de kenmerkende, bijna betoverende sound van de band.
