Pendulum was founded in 2002 in Perth, Australia, by Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen and Paul Harding (DJ El Hornet). After relocating to the United Kingdom, the group quickly established itself as one of the most innovative acts in electronic music. With their debut album Hold Your Colour (2005) and hit singles such as Tarantula, Slam and Blood Sugar, they helped bring drum-and-bass to a much wider audience.
With the release of In Silico (2008) and Immersion (2010), Pendulum further strengthened its international reputation through successful tracks including Propane Nightmares, Watercolour and Witchcraft. Following a period during which the members focused on their highly successful side project Knife Party, the band returned with new music and live performances.
