"D'Oale Folkslaidjes" by Silvia Fledderus
Silvia Fledderus brings the musical heritage of the Veenkoloniën and the Low Saxon language region to life through regional language, folk music and a warm, distinctive voice. In her music, she gives a voice once again to forgotten songs, artists, goddesses and strong women from the past.
Her musical journey began in 2024 with her father’s suitcase. That discovery set her on a search for roots, identity and the stories passed down through generations. With respect for tradition and a contemporary approach, she weaves history and personal stories into music that resonates.
With her debut album d’Oale Folklaidjes, due to be released after the summer of 2026, Silvia pays tribute to regional culture, female strength and the memory of the landscape. In addition to being a musician, she is a painter and writer, and she plays guitar and double bass. In 2025, she appeared at Songfestival Drenthe and on the RTV Drenthe programme Langs het Tuinpad van m’n Vader.
When you listen to Silvia, you hear more than music. You hear echoes of the past, the power of stories and the voices of women who never truly disappeared.
