LAAT ME
A Tribute to Ramses Shaffy & Liesbeth List
Laat me, Pastorale, and Shaffy Cantate. These are examples from the rich repertoire of Ramses Shaffy and Liesbeth List. The new theater concert “Laat me” is an intense and compelling tribute to both artists. Vocalists Pim Muda and Sabine Krol perform the famous repertoire with verve, accompanied by a live orchestra including a string ensemble. A performance filled with a sense of longing, freedom, devotion, and humor.
They are part of Dutch cultural heritage: Ramses Shaffy & Liesbeth List have touched the hearts of millions with their captivating songs. These are Dutch chansons filled with comfort, homesickness, and melancholy. That combination makes the repertoire deeply relatable. Reason enough for a theatrical tribute to both artists. Peter Groot Kormelink Productions has put together a show that does justice to the power and quality of both the songs and the famous singers. Pim Muda sings Shaffy: raw, tender, rebellious, and soulful. With a voice that whispers and explodes. With a gaze that looks the audience straight in the eye, he takes visitors on a journey into the passion of a man who always gave his all—in love, in the night, and on stage. Sabine Krol portrays Liesbeth List with the clarity and emotional power that made her Shaffy’s perfect counterpart. Where he flares out, she focuses. Where he storms, she lets the silence speak. In their duets, the rare tension that makes a song unforgettable is rekindled. The performance is named after Shaffy’s legendary double LP and follows in the footsteps of classics such as Laat me, Pastorale, Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, or Shaffy Cantate, in which theatrical moments shed new light on what lies behind the music and the lyrics.
