Biography - Darren Kiely

Darren Kiely is an Irish singer-songwriter from County Cork who seamlessly blends the rich traditions of Irish folk music with a contemporary sound. Inspired by artists such as The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons and Noah Kahan, he delivers a warm mix of modern folk, powerful vocals and heartfelt storytelling, deeply rooted in his Irish heritage.

Darren Kiely's musical journey began at an early age with the tin whistle and fiddle before teaching himself to play guitar and discovering his voice as his most distinctive instrument. After receiving several honours within Ireland's traditional music scene, he moved to New York in 2022 to further develop his own sound, followed by a period in Nashville, where he continued to refine his craft as a singer-songwriter.

Since joining Free Flight Records, Darren Kiely has built an impressive catalogue that brings together personal storytelling, folk melodies and contemporary production. Across the acclaimed EPs Lost and From The Dark, he explores themes of identity, family, personal growth and coming of age. With his authentic sound, captivating songwriting and compelling live performances, Darren Kiely is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most exciting emerging voices in contemporary folk.
