They have been around for ten years and have been able to surprise for ten years: the gentlemen of De Staat.
De Staat made their debut in 2008 with their album Wait For Evolution. They made a flying start and entered the Album Top 100 at number 13. The band around singer/guitarist Torre Florim has been going strong ever since.
The debut album Wait For Evolution is completely recorded in the house of Torre Florim. The singer, musician and producer has been working on material that is now on the debut since he was fourteen. It takes him more than a year to record everything, together with musician friends such as Fuck the Writer and The Bloody Honkies. The album is created layer by layer and, in their own words, sounds 'un-Dutch'.
The band has a strong sound and live they know how to play more than convincingly. They already did a European tour and played their biggest Dutch club show in a sold-out AFAS Live at the beginning of 2017. In 2023 they will be back with their own show in Ahoy!
Continuing to innovate and reinvent yourself is something that is of paramount importance. As singer Torre once said: "I'd hate it if we were still doing the same thing five years from now." The fact that they are taking this live became clear when the single 'Witch Doctor' came to life.
