In a painfully humorous way, comedian Esther van der Voort (also a single mom and former civil servant) discovered what is truly important in life. But did Esther always make the right choices herself, or was she reacting purely out of emotion? As a single mother, daily life is a rollercoaster of emotions. With four children, it goes on all day long: a torrent of questions. Mom, where is my hockey stick? What time is it? What are we eating?
How on earth did she end up in this situation? Life sometimes seems like a series of unmade choices, but Mom has all kinds of questions of her own too. Why did she get married? How did she get that dog? What is she supposed to do with this job? Why did she say, “Okay, we’ll have another child,” when choosing a sofa can sometimes take two years?
Occasionally it all gets too much for Esther, and then you better watch out, because Mommy is angry.
Angry at her children, angry at her ex, angry at the girl behind the counter, angry at her navigation system, angry at her boss—but most of all: angry at herself.
