American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Kurt Samuel Vile was born on January 3, 1980. Influenced by Neil Young, Tom Petty, Dinosaur Jr. and Pavement he starts his musical career with lo-fi music from his own home. Vile is known for his solo work and as the lead guitarist of the rock band The War on Drugs. Together with his backing band, The Violators, they have released multiple studio albums and live performances.
Vile grew up in Pennsylvania and is the third oldest of ten children. At the age of fourteen he was given a banjo. He started writing songs and described his first self-penned song as a joke. Kurt had watched a cartoon about the clash between Superman and Lex Luthor. The heroes were friends at first, until Lex Luthor came to hate Superman. The Kryptonite fell from the sky and Lex Luthor's hair fell out: "You Made all my hair fall out!". His first song was born.
After two solo projects, he released his third album, Childish Prodigy, together with the full participation of The Violators. In 2011, his fourth album, Smoke Ring for My Halo, was released, which significantly increased his fame. The single, "Pretty Pimpin'", from his album "B'lieve I'm Goin Down...", is Vile's best-performing song to date.
