Last season's theatre hit continues!
De Moedermonologen (The Mother Monologues) is a hilarious, powerful and moving performance about the struggles, taboos and sharp edges of motherhood. Directed by Malou Gorter (Oogappels, De Joodse Raad), three actresses perform twelve monologues per evening that take you on a rollercoaster ride and touch your heart, supported by film and music.
The monologues, written by Claudia de Breij and Stella Bergsma, among others, are about the things you think but don't dare to say out loud.
That you love your child, but not being a mother.
That you hoped your child would be different than they are.
That it makes you feel insecure, or very angry.
But you don't say that because you're afraid of being the only one.
It is often assumed that a “real” woman is also a mother. But what if you don't like caring for children at all? What if your relationship ends? What if getting pregnant proves difficult? Or if your child gets into trouble?
Renate Reijnders and Jennifer Evenhuis, together with guest actresses such as Tatum Dagelet, Margôt Ros and Nadja Hüpscher, show you all aspects of (non-)motherhood with a great deal of humour. So that the guilt and the idea of always falling short can finally be banished!
A celebration of recognition and understanding. For mothers, non-mothers, fathers and other people!
