Audiences value Asaba Duo for their solid technique, musical expressiveness, and warm, natural interaction with the public.
Marina Manterola and Carolina Agudín create an inviting atmosphere in which music connects people. Driven by a desire to honor musical traditions from diverse cultures, the duo developed their first program: "Oinatzak"—Basque for "traces" or "footprints."
This musical journey spans from the tango and the Balkans to Basque heritage and Japanese tradition. Since its premiere in October 2024 at the Museum of Fine Arts of Álava, the duo has performed this program throughout Spain and Central Europe.
For the 2025/26 season, the duo has been selected by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and 'Acción Cultural Española' (AC/E) to participate in the 'MusaE' project—a series of acoustic concerts held within the network of Spanish state museums. Furthermore, Asaba Duo has been selected for 'Residenze Erranti 2026/27,' a residency program that supports artistic research, exchange, and innovative musical projects; through this, the duo is developing a second artistic production. Both musicians have also established successful individual careers.
Carolina Agudín is distinguished by her powerful tone and expressiveness, while Marina Manterola is noted for her interpretive maturity and technical mastery. Asaba Duo combines virtuosity with sensitivity in an artistic pursuit where music serves as a vehicle for cultural dialogue and connection.
