Schalk Bezuidenhout is one of South Africa's most famous and energetic comedians. Growing up in Kempton Park, near Johannesburg, he developed a sharp eye for modern life, which he translates into fast-paced, provocative and highly relatable comedy.
After studying drama at the University of Cape Town, Schalk combined acting in films and series with performances in comedy clubs and theatres throughout South Africa. His breakthrough came with Comedy Central and Netflix specials, multiple Comic Choice Awards and performances as support for none other than Trevor Noah.
Today, Schalk tours the world and plays sold-out shows in England, Australia and at leading festivals such as Edinburgh Fringe. With his unique mix of personal stories, sharp observations and irresistible self-deprecation, he knows how to touch and make audiences around the world laugh.
With Hey Hey Divorcè, he is now back on stage with his first (and hopefully last) show after his divorce. Candid, hilarious and painfully relatable, because talking to the audience is still cheaper than therapy.
