Biography - Tarkan

Tarkan Tevetoğlu, better known as Tarkan, is a Turkish pop singer. He was born in Germany, emigrated to Turkey with his family and studied classical Turkish music in Istanbul. Since 1992, he has been the most famous star of the contemporary Turkish pop scene. For years he has been leaving all other Turkish pop singers far behind him in sales figures.

Tarkan made his international breakthrough in 1999 with the song Şımarık, with which he won a World Music Award. Tarkan has been called the "Turkish Elvis" on CNN.
