Walrus is the musical project of Geert Noppe, through which he creates refined Dutch-language indie pop that balances poetry, sharpness and rich arrangements. Walrus’ music combines melodic pop with subtle symphonic influences and an alternative edge, resulting in a sound that is both distinctive and accessible.
Inspired by ’90s indie rock, with bands such as Pixies, Dinosaur Jr. and Smashing Pumpkins, as well as Dutch-language artists like Noordkaap and De Mens, Walrus has developed a recognisable style centred around strong melodies and layered lyrics.
Since the debut album Op De Valreep (2013), Walrus has steadily built a place within the Dutch-language pop scene. With follow-ups and radio singles such as Kijk!, Terug naar het begin and Dansen uit de maat, the band has become known for captivating live shows full of variation, energy and musical finesse.
