James Blunt to Ziggo Dome with new album Airplane Mode
James Blunt is returning to the Netherlands. On Saturday 20 February 2027, he will give a spectacular performance at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. It marks a return to the Netherlands’ largest concert venue for Blunt, who sold out the venue on his previous visit.
Airplane Mode
The popular Brit will release his new album Airplane Mode on 6 November, his eighth studio album. As part of this, the 2x Brit Award winner, 5x Grammy nominee and artist with more than 20 million albums sold worldwide to his name is going back on tour and will also visit the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. He describes his new album Airplane Mode as his strongest work in twenty years. In terms of sound, the album echoes his warm acoustic pop songs from the late ’90s and the 2000s – inspired by artists who first inspired Blunt at the time, such as David Gray, Coldplay and The Verve. The album combines Blunt’s distinctive, compelling hooks with nostalgic stories. It offers the same emotional power that fans loved so much on Back to Bedlam, while at the same time continuing his renewed, modern pop evolution. This has resulted in an album with a genuine live sound that calls out to be performed live. And that is exactly what he will do next year, with a show at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on Saturday 20 February 2027.
You’re Beautiful
James Blunt is one of the most remarkable artists in the music world. The fifty-two-year-old singer, songwriter and musician served as an officer in the British Army before deciding to pursue a musical career. He broke through in 2004 with his debut album Back To Bedlam, which includes the hits You’re Beautiful and Goodbye My Lover. The album topped the charts around the world, including numerous number 1 positions. In the Netherlands, it reached second place in the album chart, with more than 80,000 copies earning it platinum status. The albums that followed were also well received and successful. Singles including 1973, Stay The Night and Bonfire Heart also became major worldwide hits. He has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and, with You’re Beautiful, is a member of Spotify’s billionaires club: the select group of artists with a song that has been streamed more than a billion times.
Biggest show
Blunt has performed his pop and folk rock songs in the Netherlands several times and almost always played to sold-out venues. As a live artist, he is praised for his musical craftsmanship, strong melodies and typically British self-deprecating humour. The first two singles from Airplane Mode have already been released: Tastes Like Summer and Weight Of It All. His upcoming show on 20 February 2027 marks a return to the Netherlands’ largest concert venue, the Ziggo Dome, which he sold out on his previous visit on 4 March 2025.
